Lee Davis Chief Executive Officer

in

Lee Davis has spent his entire career in the power generation sector. His engineering background combined with his business acumen, have made Lee a trusted leader in the energy industry. Lee is Kindle Energy’s founding Chief Executive Officer and runs the organization that provides asset management services and acquires, develops, and optimizes power generation assets throughout North America.

Lee built Kindle Energy after nine years in senior executive roles at NRG Energy. Beginning as Director of Northeast Asset Management and Development, he then advanced to Executive Vice President and Regional President of NRG’s East Region, its largest and most complex region. Under Lee’s leadership and direction, the East Region grew from 7 GW to over 26 GW of power generation across nine states and three power markets. He was responsible for integrating and optimizing assets acquired during large transactions including mergers with GenOn Energy in 2012 and Edison Mission Energy in 2014. He led NRG’s efforts to maximize the value of existing units, repower generating sites with more efficient units, reduce emissions. He also drove the effort to build new cleaner energy resources in PJM, MISO, and ISO-NE power markets.

Lee’s industry experience also includes Mirant Corporation and Calpine.

Lee holds an MBA from Emory University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Lee McFalls Chief Operating Officer

Lee McFalls joined Kindle Energy as Chief Operating Officer in April 2019. Lee has served in leadership roles within the electric generation industry for more than 30 years and is highly skilled in Plant Operations Management with a proven track record.

Prior to his current role at Kindle Energy, Lee served in various roles of increasing management responsibility at NRG Energy. Lee began his career there as a Plant Manager at a peaking plant in NRG’s Northeast Region and advanced through Vice President of Northeast Operations, Vice President of Outage & Work Management, and Vice President of Operations Analysis. Throughout his progression, Lee fulfilled leadership roles in the areas of Plant Operations, Outage, and Budget Management, as well as Asset Integration, including a leadership role in NRG’s integration of the GenOn Energy and the Midwest Generation portfolios. He also led efforts across NRG’s 50+ GW fleet to optimize over 300 outages, significantly reducing Operations spend while maintaining performance.

Lee holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy.

Brant Meleski Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of Kindle Energy, Brant is responsible for the Company’s accounting, financing, merger & acquisition, planning, risk, and other strategic activities.

Prior to joining Kindle Energy in June 2020, Brant was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of InfraREIT, Inc. from 2014-2019. Between 1997 and 2014 Brant was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch and then Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Global Power & Utilities Investment Banking Group. During his career, Brant has led numerous large and unique debt, equity, commodity and M&A transactions.

Brant holds an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a BS in Finance from Clemson University.

Jon Baylor Senior Vice President Business Development

Jon Baylor joined Kindle Energy in 2015 as Senior Vice President of Development and is responsible for Kindle Energy’s development group focused on new project development and asset optimization for Kindle Energy customers. Prior to his role at Kindle Energy, Jon worked for 11 years at NRG Energy in Asset Management, Project Development, Investor Relations and Business Operations. Jon served as Vice President of Asset Management for NRG’s East Region, and was responsible for the strategy, execution and integration of NRG’s Midwest PJM assets acquired from Edison Mission Energy. Jon also led the development of several fossil fuel and renewable projects in New York, PJM and New England markets focused on the repowering of existing assets to be cleaner and more efficient. He was instrumental in due diligence efforts, development of acquisition strategy, asset work out opportunities, and bid development for several renewable and fossil generation portfolios. In his Investor Relations and Business Operations roles he ran asset management, developed project financials, and supported the strategic investment/divestiture decisions related to NRG’s international portfolio.

Jon holds a BA from Bob Jones University and an MBA in Finance from Temple University.

Ike Budd Senior Vice President of Commodity Portfolio Management

Ike serves as the co-head of Commercial Operations, where he leads trading, portfolio analytics and risk management of the Lightstone Portfolio. Besides his role as a portfolio manager, he oversees commercial aspects of Kindle Energy development projects and M&A processes. Ike joined Kindle Energy in 2016 after having worked with other Blackstone portfolio companies since 2014.

Ike has spent his entire 20+ year career trading power and gas at merchant energy companies NRG Energy, NextEra and GDF Suez (now Engie), along with energy-focused hedge funds Saracen and Whiteside Energy.

Ike holds a BA in Economics from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, MN.

Michael Barham Senior Vice President of Commodity Portfolio Management

Michael co-leads the Commercial Team that manages the commercial aspects of Kindle Energy three primary business units: Asset Management, Development, and M&A. Before joining Kindle Energy in 2016, he worked in an advisory role tied to Blackstone Energy Partners’ portfolio companies, commercial operations and commodity risk management.

Michael has over two decades of experience in commodity trading and has built and managed commodity derivative desks for Constellation Energy, Bank of America, and Deutsche Bank. He has also held Portfolio Manager roles with hedge funds Blackwatch Commodity Advisors, Saracen Energy, and Citadel Investment Group.

Michael holds an MBA from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis and a B.. in Finance from Millikin University, where he graduated with honors.

David Neal Senior Vice President of Asset Optimization and M&A

With more than 25 years of energy-related experience, the last 15 years working directly in competitive power markets, David has a highly specialized skillset in the deregulated energy sector with a proven track record. He has held numerous management positions in the areas of finance, asset management, and development in the energy industry.

David joined Kindle Energy in 2015 as Senior Vice President Asset Management and Mergers and Acquisitions. David previously worked eight years at NRG Energy where he served as Vice President of Asset Management East for nearly 20 GW of generation in New York, New England, and PJM. He directed all major commercial, regulatory, and environmental initiatives for the East region fossil fleet. Earlier with NRG, he was Vice President, Business Development, leading strategic growth and new business initiatives. David was a key member of the deal teams that executed and integrated two significant M&A transactions: GenOn Energy, Inc. and Edison Mission Energy. David also managed the strategy, due diligence, and financial analysis in support of many acquisition opportunities of both fossil and renewable generation for the East region. Prior to joining NRG in 2007, David worked for Progress Energy Ventures as Lead Financial Specialist, and earlier with Amerada Hess, Statoil Energy, and Columbia Energy.

David holds a BA from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic and State University.

Grace Kurdian Senior Vice President & General Counsel

As General Counsel of Kindle Energy, Grace is responsible for the Company’s legal and regulatory compliance functions as well as governmental affairs and human resources. The legal team supports all of the Company’s activities ranging from M&A to development to asset management and strategic initiatives.

Grace joined Kindle Energy as its Deputy General Counsel in January of 2016 and became the SVP and General Counsel in September of 2022. Previously, Grace was a partner at two law firms in New York where she focused on serving clients primarily in the energy, renewable energy and clean tech industries advising on everything from transactions to regulatory matters to litigation. Upon leaving private practice, she served as Senior Counsel- East Region for NRG before joining Kindle Energy. At the start of her career, Grace served as a Deputy Attorney General in New Jersey, representing the Board of Public Utilities and the Department of Environmental Protection.

Grace received her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law- Camden and her BA from Trinity College (Hartford). Grace is admitted to the bar in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Julie Friedberg Vice President of Business Development

Julie Friedberg has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry. She joined Kindle Energy as its Vice President, Development in 2015. Julie began her career in the energy industry as a lawyer and has provided legal counsel to public utilities and independent power producers on matters pertaining to the full life cycle of generation projects deriving electric energy from coal, gas, biomass, solar and wind, beginning at development through successful start-up, ownership and operation, to sale of the project. She has focused on issues ranging from engineering, procurement and construction agreements, operating and maintenance agreements, asset management, power purchase agreements, regulatory processes, project finance, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and securitization.

Prior to joining Kindle Energy in 2015, Julie was a Principal at Mercer Thompson, a boutique energy law firm in Atlanta, where she provided counsel to clients on a wide range of issues related to acquisition, sale, development, construction, ownership, and operation of fossil-fueled and renewable electric generation plants.

From 2007 until mid-2011, Julie was General Counsel of NRG Energy’s Northeast Region, Julie guided the region’s legislative and regulatory strategy and strategies for addressing environmental issues related to the operation of electric generating facilities within the region. She also ensured project and regional compliance with applicable legal requirements, including regional transmission operator (ISO-NE, NYISO and PJM) tariffs, and provided counsel on issues related to development and asset management. Prior to that, Julie served as outside counsel for 12 years for Jersey Central Power & Light, New Jersey’s second largest public electric utility.

Julie has a Juris Doctor from Temple University Law School and a BA from Emory University.

Tom Flexon Director of Asset Optimization

Tom joined Kindle Energy in April 2019 as Director of Asset Optimization and Development and is responsible for strategic origination, project evaluation, fleetwide asset optimization, and transaction diligence.

With over a decade of competitive power market experience, Tom has held positions in Commercial Operations, Asset Management, Structure & Fundamentals, as well as Risk Management & Reporting. Prior to joining Kindle Energy, Tom spent eight years at NRG Energy. During his time at NRG, Tom led activities that included commodity hedging, contract management, portfolio optimization, budget forecasting, asset integration, and fundamental market analysis.

Tom holds an undergraduate degree from Drexel University with a concentration in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University.
